AREA AGENCY ON AGING SERVICES
The Georgia Department of Human Resources has designated the Coosa Valley
RDC as the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) and in this capacity, the RDC plans,
coordinates and administers programs for older Georgians throughout the
planning and service area. An Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, which
includes consumers, advises on senior programs. The provision of services
is administered by the AAA through contracts with service-provider agencies.

Services include:
- Information and Referral for Elder Services: 1-800-759-2963
- Provides resources for assistance.
- Advocacy and Coordination - Provides representation and coordination
on behalf of older persons.
- Adult Day Care - Provides services in a supervised, protective,
congregate setting during some portion of a 24-hour day.
- Alzheimer Services - Provides out-of-home day care and in-home
respite care to assist AD clients and their families.
- Alzheimer Training - Provides education and training to professionals
and caregivers.
- Community Care Service Programs (CCSP - Title XIX Medicaid Waivered
Program) - Provides services designed to assist older Georgians in
continuing to live in the community rather than enter a long-term care
facility, when such services can be safely and appropriately delivered
in a home setting. One service, or a combination of services that will
best meet the needs of the person, will be determined. Community Care
Services include:
- Adult Day Health
- Alternative Living Services
- Care Management
- Emergency Response System
- Community Care Health Services
- Home Delivered Services
- Personal Support Services
- Congregate Meals - Provides a meal in a group setting
- GeorgiaCares - Provides information regarding health insurance
(ie.Medicare,Medicaid,Medigap,ect...) and provides prescription assistance
counseling and application assistance.
- Home Delivered Meals - Provides a meal to temporarily or permanently
homebound
- Homemaker - Provides services by trained homemaker to assist
in home related tasks and personal care
- Legal Assistance - Provides legal assistance on rights, benefits,
and entitlements
- Ombudsman - Provides services to assist residents of long term
care facilities
- Respite Care - Provides respite assistance for caregivers of
frail homebound elderly
- Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) - Provides
training and part-time subsidized employment and assistance to locate unsubsidized
employment for low income persons age 55 years and older
- Transportation - Provides access to and from nutrition centers
and other community resources
